At Nubian Directions II, Inc., our YouthBuild program has been a cornerstone in shaping the futures of countless young individuals. Recently, we received a heartfelt message from one of our former students, and we would like to share her inspiring journey.

A Journey of Transformation

Back in 2007-2008, this student was part of our YouthBuild program. She fondly recalls her time at Nubian Directions, mentioning, "I graduated with Reo and Miguel and all those guys. How is everyone? I miss you guys so much."

Overcoming Challenges

Life after graduation was not without its challenges. She bravely shared that she "got away from that guy, my oldest two boys' father…fled New York and never looked back." This pivotal decision marked the beginning of a new chapter in her life, one that led her to Indiana, where she is now married with four children.

The skills and certifications she gained through YouthBuild have remained invaluable. She expressed her gratitude by saying, "You guys changed my life…helping me get my GED and all the other certifications." Even though she no longer has her certificates, she emphasized, "All the things I learned I still have with me and I use it all the time."
